Image Mosaic / Blur
Blur sensitive areas like faces, names, and addresses in photos/screenshots, in the browser.
Category: Image Tools
When to use?
Use it before posting images to blur areas you should not reveal — names, emails, order numbers, addresses, faces, plate numbers. It makes a result PNG in the browser without uploading the original.
How to use
- Select an image.
- Choose whole-image or specific-rectangle blur mode.
- Adjust blur strength, X/Y coordinates, and width/height.
- Check the preview, then save the result image.
Input Explanation
In area mode, enter X, Y coordinates and width/height in pixels. In whole mode, adjust only the blur strength.
Calculation Basis
It draws the image on browser Canvas and applies a blur(px) filter. Area mode redraws only the clipped rectangle, keeping the rest of the original.
Usage Examples
- Protect personal info - Blur sensitive info in images — names, emails, contacts, addresses, order numbers — before sharing.
- Hide faces/plate numbers - Blur a specific face, plate number, or revealing sign by selecting an area.
- Prepare screenshots to share - Hide account names or internal data in app/receipt/admin captures for a shareable image.
- Blur the whole background - Blur an entire document or photo so details cannot be read.
Examples
- Blur only the name and ID area in a contract capture by X/Y coordinates
- Blur only the address/contact/tracking-number area in an order screenshot
- Blur only a specific face in an event photo by selecting an area
Cautions
- It processes via browser canvas, so original metadata (EXIF) may be lost or transparent areas may change color.
- Extremely high-resolution large files may fail to convert due to browser image-decoding limits.
Guides
Choosing blur vs. mosaic
Blur looks natural but at low strength the original shape can remain. For sensitive text like IDs, addresses, and order numbers, raise the strength or select a wide enough area.
Tips for selecting areas
Select a bit wider than the target so letter edges or shadows do not remain. If several pieces of info are close, one large rectangle is safer than separate areas.
Keep the original safe
The tool makes a new PNG and does not modify the original. When sharing, confirm you picked the blurred result and did not attach the original by mistake.
Browser processing
Images are processed on browser Canvas with no server upload. You can produce results without transferring files, even for internal screens or PII screenshots.
FAQ
Does the original file change?
No. It generates a new PNG file in the browser.
Is the photo uploaded to a server?
No. As a tool for sensitive info, blurring runs only in the browser and the photo is not sent out.
Can blurred info be restored?
Weak blur can leave shapes visible, so apply strong blur to sensitive info and check the result.
Can I adjust the blur strength?
Yes, from light blur to a strong mosaic where info is unreadable.
Can I blur only part of the image?
Yes. In area mode, specify X/Y coordinates and size to blur only that rectangle.
