Note: A simple calculation for reference. Taxes, fees, exchange rates, opportunity cost, and risk must be considered separately.
Category: Calculators
When to use?
Use it to see how efficient a return was relative to the amount invested — ad spend, equipment investment, or stock/crypto investments.
How to use
- Enter the investment amount.
- Enter the return amount or current value.
- The profit, ROI, and return multiple are shown.
Input Explanation
Enter the amount actually invested, and the amount to compare against (sale value, current value, or performance figure).
Calculation Basis
Profit = return − investment. ROI = profit ÷ investment × 100.
Usage Examples
- Check investment efficiency - Calculate the return rate of money recovered versus money invested.
- Analyze marketing performance - Calculate the ROI of revenue from ad spend to compare campaign efficiency.
- Compare investment options - Compare ROI and return multiples side by side to set priorities.
Examples
- Investment 10,000,000, return 12,500,000 → ROI 25%
- Ad spend 500,000, revenue 800,000 → ROI 60%
Cautions
- It does not reflect opportunity cost or the time value of money, so take care with long-term analysis.
- It is a simple return that excludes the holding period, taxes, and transaction fees, so judge actual value carefully.
FAQ
Is the return the net profit?
It calculates based on the return amount you enter. For net profit, enter a value with costs already deducted.
How is ROI calculated?
Divide profit (return − investment) by the investment and multiply by 100. Investing 1,000,000 for a 1,250,000 return is an ROI of 25%.
What does the return multiple mean?
Return divided by investment — how many times your money came back. 1× is break-even, 2× is double the principal.
Can ROI be negative?
Yes. If the return is less than the investment, it is a loss, so ROI is shown as negative.
