Unit Converter
Freely convert units of length (nanometer to mile), weight, temperature, area, and volume.
Category: Calculators
When to use?
Use it to check inch-based clothing sizes in cm on overseas shops, to convert cups and ounces in a foreign recipe to mL, or to convert nanometer (nm) and micrometer (µm) units in semiconductor and optics fields.
How to use
- Choose the category to convert (length, weight, temperature, area, volume).
- Enter the value and the source unit.
- Select the target unit to see the converted result.
Input Explanation
Enter a number and choose the source and target units. Length supports nanometer (nm) through mile (mi). Temperature supports Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F), and Kelvin (K).
Calculation Basis
Each unit uses a defined conversion factor (e.g. 1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 nm = 10⁻⁹ m), multiplying or dividing the input to reach the target unit.
Usage Examples
- Check overseas clothing sizes - Convert US clothing sizes (inches) to centimeters.
- Convert recipe units - Convert cups and fluid ounces to mL and L.
- Understand weather temperatures - Convert Fahrenheit (°F) to Celsius (°C).
- Semiconductor & optics units - Convert nanometer (nm) and micrometer (µm) to mm, cm, etc.
Examples
- 1 inch → 2.54 cm, 1 pound → 453.6 g
- 100°F → 37.8°C (body-temperature range)
- 450 nm → 0.45 µm (visible light wavelength)
Cautions
- Results depend on input conditions, so do not use them as the sole basis for financial or legal decisions.
- This is for everyday conversion rather than engineering-grade precision; for ultra-fine control, check the relevant standard.
Guides
Conversion basis
For each quantity (length, weight, temperature, volume), a conversion factor links SI and non-SI units. For example, 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.4536 kg.
Temperature conversion
To convert Celsius (°C) to Fahrenheit (°F), use °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32. To go the other way, use (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9.
Metric prefixes for length
The metric system uses powers of 10: 1 km = 1000 m, 1 m = 10 dm = 100 cm = 1000 mm = 10⁶ µm = 10⁹ nm. Nanometers are commonly used for semiconductor process nodes and light wavelengths, while micrometers are used for biological cells and precision machining.
FAQ
Which unit categories are supported?
Five categories: length, weight, temperature, area, and volume.
Which length units are supported?
Nanometer (nm), micrometer (µm), millimeter (mm), centimeter (cm), decimeter (dm), meter (m), kilometer (km), inch (in), foot (ft), yard (yd), and mile (mi).
How does temperature conversion work?
It converts between Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F), and Kelvin (K).
How many cm is one inch?
1 inch = 2.54 cm.
How many meters is one nanometer?
1 nm = 10⁻⁹ m (0.000000001 m).
What if the result has too many decimals?
It is rounded to 10 significant figures for display.
